Frequently asked questions

How long does it take digital marketing to get results?

The answer depends on your goals, marketing activity, budget and the channels you’re using.

You get the quickest results from email campaigns and the slowest from SEO (search engine optimisation) activities. But don’t confuse speed with value. In the long run, SEO pays dividends by giving you consistently high Google rankings.

Within 24 hours of kicking off your email campaign, we’ll have good data about open rates and click-through rates (how many people follow links to your website from the email). After about a week, your email campaign will peter off since everyone who’s going to open the email has already done so.

Google Ads take about 2-4 weeks to show results. Google needs this time for its artificial intelligence to learn about your ad – who’s clicking on it, what do they respond to, what action do they take when they get to your website?

It’s a similar story with Facebook ads and other social media campaigns. From about the one-month mark, you’ll see a greater flow of people clicking on your ads and taking action on your website, such as booking an appointment.

SEO (search engine optimisation) takes 3-6 months. That’s because you’re slowly winning over Google and persuading it to put your site higher and higher up its search rankings. Overtaking competitors who’ve been playing the SEO game for longer takes time. You have to invest in SEO activities such as improving the user experience on your site and improving content or navigation. It takes time but, if you’re patient, your business will hopefully gain a more commanding position and win over many new customers.

At Splice Marketing, we understand that you want results. We’re proud to deliver them for you. You’ll receive a comprehensive report every 90 days, based on our analysis of 3 months of solid data about your campaign. We love sharing these reports with you.

The better question is: what return is your marketing helping you generate?

Your investment will depend on your goals, growth stage and the services you need. A new allied health clinic has very different marketing requirements to a multi-site medical group or a national medtech company.

We’ll help you understand where your budget is best spent, what you can realistically expect from it and how we’ll measure whether it’s working.

Absolutely.

We work with healthcare businesses at almost every stage of growth – from solo practitioners, start-ups and growing clinics through to multi-site groups, healthcare organisations, medical device companies and global healthcare brands.

What matters most isn’t your size. It’s where you are now, where you want to go and whether we’re the right team to help you get there.

If you want more of the right people to know about, trust and choose your business, marketing matters.

For healthcare businesses, good marketing isn’t simply about being visible. It’s about building trust, communicating clearly, reaching the right patients, referrers or customers and making it easy for them to take the next step.

Done well, marketing becomes part of your growth system – not just another business expense.

Yes. We agree on the scope, deliverables and terms before we get started so everyone knows exactly what to expect.

Clear agreements create better working relationships, protect both parties and give our team the structure we need to deliver your marketing effectively.

PPC stands for pay-per-click advertising.

Put simply, you pay when someone clicks on your ad. Google Ads is one of the most common examples.

For healthcare businesses, PPC can be a powerful way to reach people who are actively searching for a service, product or solution you provide.

But clicks aren’t the end goal. We look at what happens next – enquiries, bookings, leads and conversions, so your advertising is focused on meaningful growth.

There could be several reasons.

Your website may be new, Google may not fully understand your content yet, your competitors may have stronger search authority, or your website may need technical, content or user-experience improvements.

That’s where SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) comes in. Good healthcare SEO helps search engines understand who you are, what you offer and why your website deserves to appear when the right people are searching. And no – simply Googling yourself repeatedly isn’t the best way to measure it. We use search and analytics data to see what’s really happening.

We measure success using the appropriate metric for your goal.

If your goal is to increase awareness of your business, we might measure impressions and reach. If your content reaches a hundred people and you’ve got an impression rate of 200 people, it’s saying basically that each person is seeing your content twice – which can be a good thing as we often need repeated prompts before we take action.

If your goal is to increase bookings, then we measure conversions such as how many people click on your phone number or complete an online booking. An experienced professional can set up the right tracking through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. Splice clients also benefit from seeing their metrics in our proprietary analytics dashboard, Splice Live.

We communicate more frequently at the beginning while we get to know your business, goals, audience and priorities.

From there, the rhythm depends on your project or engagement, but regular communication and reporting are built into how we work. You won’t be left wondering what’s happening. We’ll keep you informed, explain our recommendations and make sure we stay focused on the outcomes that matter.

Of course! It’s really important that you are happy that the end result is a good reflection of your business. We do have a senior graphic designer and a graphic designer who follow best-practice design principles to create something that looks great visually and considers content hierarchy but we’re happy to take your ideas on board and incorporate your images or other feedback. And the same goes for your website. We encourage you to listen to our recommendations because they’re based on industry best practice but we’re happy to discuss other ideas as we progress through your content and campaigns.

Getting people to your website is only half the job. The next challenge is getting them to take action.

Low conversions can be caused by unclear messaging, confusing navigation, slow page speeds, weak calls to action, poor mobile experience, lack of trust signals or simply attracting the wrong audience in the first place.

For healthcare websites, trust and clarity are particularly important. We look at the whole journey, from how someone finds you to what they see, feel and do once they arrive, to identify where potential patients or customers are dropping off.

Many healthcare businesses will need a Privacy Policy because of the type of personal and health information they collect and the privacy obligations that apply to their organisation.

What you need will depend on your business, website functionality and the information you collect. We can help make sure privacy considerations are factored into your website and marketing setup, but specific legal requirements should always be confirmed with an appropriately qualified adviser.

Yes, a good website is never really “finished”.

Technology changes, plugins require updates, content becomes outdated, search behaviour evolves and your healthcare business keeps moving forward.

Regular website maintenance helps protect security, performance and user experience, while ongoing content and SEO work can help keep your website visible and useful. Think of launch day as the beginning, not the finish line.

A healthcare marketing agency understands the regulations, patient trust dynamics, and compliance requirements that general marketing agencies don’t encounter and can often get wrong.

At Splice Marketing, we’ve worked exclusively in healthcare since 2017, which means every campaign, website, and piece of content is built around AHPRA and TGA advertising guidelines from the start, not adapted afterwards.

A general agency treats healthcare like any other industry; we treat it as the only one.

Yes – compliance with AHPRA and TGA advertising guidelines is built into everything Splice Marketing does, not offered as an add-on. Every campaign, website, and piece of content we produce for healthcare and medical clients is checked against current AHPRA and TGA requirements before it goes live, so you can market confidently without risking your registration or your brand.

Yes – Splice Marketing works across the full spectrum of Australian healthcare, from solo and multi-site clinics to global medtech companies and large healthcare organisations. Our clients include allied health and primary health clinics, medical specialists, dentists, healthtech and digital health companies, life sciences and pharmaceutical businesses, and healthcare organisations and enterprises. Wherever you sit in that range, we’ve likely worked with a business like yours before.

Healthcare marketing costs in Australia typically range depending on your business size, growth stage, and the mix of services involved such as SEO, paid advertising, content, and website work. These all carry different price points, and a start-up clinic’s needs look very different to an enterprise medtech rollout.

Rather than quote a generic figure that won’t reflect your situation, we offer a free strategy session where we look at your specific goals and give you a clear, tailored view of what it would take. No obligation, no guesswork.
